Pulse Festival Slovenia

Pulse Festival is back in 2008 for the third edition. The festival will take place at Zeleni Gaj, an idyllic location in the middle of the untouched nature in Dornberk-Slovenia. The first Saturday of August will play host to a squadron of quality techno and house DJs like Adam Beyer, Steve Porter, Technasia, Scarlett Etienne and Pedro Delgardo.
Even more, ten hours of fantastic music is not all that this year's Pulse has to offer. Like all the proper festivals, Zeleni Gaj will spoil its visitors with wonderful visual effects, stands with food and various other party related accessories. Pulse Festival and Zeleni Gaj kindly invite you to help them create another little piece of history.
The LiveSets Recording Crew will be present to record the night!

A tribute to... Oxia

This week a tribute to a one of the people that really put France on the map when it comes to techno: Oxia!
Since his very first EP, released in 1995 on Ozone records, Olivier Raymond aka Oxia has been at the forefront of the French electronic music scene. With his friend The Hacker and their label Goodlife, Olivier has helped regenerate the sound of French productions.
During his college years, Olivier befriended Stéphane Deschezeaux, another young man passionate about Black Music. They made their debut on a local radio station presenting a ‘Funk’ radio program. Olivier, only 15 years old, started mixing with a simple cassette player and deck (without pitch). Soon tiring of his limited tools, he invested in a proper pair of decks and began mixing funk, rock, pop… at student parties. In 1991, Olivier & Stéphane bought their first bits of “music making” equipment and started composing melodies incorporating sounds... (read more)

Great news from downtown Cologne! FOEM’s next remix contest is with Cologne scene mastermind Marcel Janovsky, label head of Treibstoff Recordings. Treibstoff, Traum and Kompakt are actually among the labels which are called the 'Cologne Sound'. They are doing progressive futuristic Techno/House/Minimal music.
The new contest revolves around one of Marcel’s own tracks, Okay. You have 3 whole months to come up with a remix of this track, that was originally released late 2007. On the Foem website you will find a detailed description of the style that the remix should be in. Marcel adds the following: “As a label manager I have combined my vision of Techno - how it should sound for me in 2008 - in this track. So this is also the message for the remixers. Another good track which shows what we really like at the moment is "Falko Brocksieper - Silverlining". Great modern Techno / House music."

Deepgroove & Jamie Anderson - Killer/Butterflies

In the movie The Matrix, Smith approaches Neo with the words Mr. Anderson. You could say that it would be appropriate to approach Jamie Anderson in the same way. For he is recognized as a pioneer of Tech-House. He has been showing his DJ skills for well over 10 years and he is one of the UK's most prolific house music producers. Mr. Anderson gathered his experience in producing with award winning DJ and production duo Grayson Shipley & Lee Pattison a.k.a. Deepgroove. This is a move that couldn't have worked out better, resulting in an exceptional delicate EP, that will be released on Alter Ego's label Klang Elektronik.
The freaky sound they created before, when they did the remix of Queen Anne's Revenge, coming from the album of Alter Ego, continues with the tracks Killer and Butterflies, that at there own turn are filled with exuberant synthesizers and excellent constructed bass lines.
Killer is strongly reminiscent of the well known track Doppelwhipper. This track, produced by Gabriel Ananda in 2006, begins to unravel after 3 minutes. Killer on the other hand begins almost instantaneously with an eager bass line, which simultaneously allows more... (read more)

Keep an eye out for this ondemand section, because really nice sets from this years Rurh in Love '08, Loveparade '08 en NatureOne '08 will be added this summer.
This weekend we're going to kick off by recording at Ruhr in Love. where the areas from Bullshit Booking and Abstract will be recorded. To give you a small insight of what's to come, dj's who will be recorded are Frank Kvitta, Arkus P & Boris S aka. Tetrapak, Sven Wittekind, Frank Sonic and Patrick DSP.
