He's shouting his mouth off about how great he is at the moment and i'd tend to agree with him. However i know a lot of people think he's just as concerned with his haircut as he is with his mixing.

So what does everyone think, has his ego gotten so big there's no turning back or will he be remembered in a 100 years for revolutionising electronic music.

it sure is a amazing! DE9 transitions comes out crispy clear when you have a DTS system, beside the mix in 5.1 there is also a nice interview and some nice video clips.. so yeah something else the "new" hawtin does.. making nice DVD's :(/>

i havent been much of a fan in the past of him so i don't share most people's enthusiasm... He might not be able to do anything wrong in your eyes.. but when I saw this thread the first thing I thought about was his weird hair.. and I haven't even seen this thread inside.. with the poll and shit.. so that sure made me laugh. I'd have to agree with Neale, the fucking popstar thing... I hate MTV shit and whatever channels there may exist... that's why I've turned towards certain musicstyles and whatnot.. so that there are Hawtin's, Tiesto's, MissKittin's and whoever meets "the standard" in this world... doesn't make me happy. If I wanted popstars I'd be into Eminem now..

bad development... it's all this minimal crap that's doing it.... It's all too styley.. and def. a hype... All the shit I just read in this thread about the hairdo.. come on :(/>

anyho.. you can see the difference in Hawtin before and after.. he's an innovator allright and def. a genius... but so were many that became too big and too snobby (the new Hawtin?)

after that you don't hear much of em.. Except Madonna. heh...

I voted minimal. I do think that Richie is kind of dissing on turntables lately. For a man who can do what he can do....he must be bored with decks. Maybe he is saying it in the wrong way (being a little too snobby) but I think what he is really getting at is that using software is really able to push the limits of the vinyl/mp3/tracks and instead of using just the pitch and EQ's you can really develop your own sound that way. In a sense...the decks limit the music. Perhaps he is saying this in a way that belittles those who value the art of mixing and the vinyl junkies, but he is al least being passionate about what he feels and saying it with conviction. Being the pioneer that he is, this is totally acceptable. Wishy-washy people who never take a stand never accomplish anything. Go Richie!! Rock your ugly haircut and keep rocking my ears!

hawtin is the only guy I know who has changed drastically, lost respect by many of his old fans, and than regained it without anything but solid music.

the guy impresses the hell out of me, and is probably the single most timeless musician to come out of the entire electronic music scene - even more than people like daft punk or chemical bros. or whatever.

hawtin's music will probably be being listened to long after ive left this planet, he not only creates legendary sounds with the equipment he had or what was available, he has gone on and made the hardware for the sounds or effects he wanted, he is a true pioneer in electronic music who happens to dig having a freaky hair do, which i think is totally ridiculous incedently. Not listening to his hair though. As good as techno gets.

the man is a legend. come on people, even if you dont like his style, you have to realize that he is a great dj. he isnt even my favorite, but i do like him, and hes got the skills. the fact that he can spin hard and minimal should tell you that.

when the books are being written, i guarentee they wont be talking about when he got lasik eye surgery or his euro-do.

he is a legend. Most of us agree on that, if we take a look at the poll results. His minimal sounds simply drive me nuts, and I also love his older sets. But I just find something awesome in these new sounds !

his haircut fucking rocks. Some of us agree on that ;)/>
