i've sugested this long time ago, but now i do it again, why not create a sub section in techno, house ... to post only radio sets & podcasts, now when we open a section we see few LIVE SETS, 90% of the first page is radio shows!!! if we don't come everyday good live sets could pass to second & third page quickly.

i miss the old times where the free upload sites were a dream and only ftp & few sites had good sets:)

what do you think?

greetings ls members :)/>

I say: the 'good old days' are over. Radio shows and podcasts are the majority of the sets going around these days, which is reflected in the fora.
If we create a subforum for each link forum, who will do the moderating?? You can be sure that most posters can't make the distinction between a radio show and a set recorded at a club/party and will post in the wrong forum. And what with radio shows that broadcast recorded sets...?

FTP is a way of transferring files. Someone sets up a server, which hosts a bunch of sets (or any type of file). People connect with a FTP client and can up/download sets. It's usually a closed circuit where only a limited number of people can login to the server and share their sets, so you'll have to know the right people to get in.
Hacked servers also used to be a great source of illegal music/video/software/pr0n, but I think there aren't many around anymore.

If I unhderstand correctly then, with the FTP being closed circuit and only a limited number of people having access, this is not as good as filehosts. Why would we want to share a set, but only let certain people access it. If we have a good set for sharing, surely it is better if all can access and enjoy it? No?

That's a very interesting way to put it. You are totally right, there are fewer people with access in our Private FTP Section, so fewer people who can download your share. But on the other hand FTP has been the way to share music in the past years on LS.com. Times have changed and free file hosters have emerged very fast. They almost make FTP obsolete, but we like to live in the past, just for good old times sake ;)/>

As for downloading itself.... dude... FTP is the best connection you can establish, it's a straight line between 2 computers/servers. Available upload speed = available download speed. Folders with tons of music, multiple files in queue, no time counters, etc.
